Ever since we entered 2022, it feels like each passing day is bringing in exciting news about a new series or a movie. Recently some details emerged about a brand-new satirical thriller featuring Kristen Bell on Netflix. The show has a very peculiar title, “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window”. To be honest, it feels like someone jammed a couple of novel titles into one, but that apart, what can you expect from this series?

The series will debut on Netflix as an 8-episode limited offering later this month. It follows a rather common plotline where a nebby, wine-drinking neighbor, Bell, has probably witnessed a murder.

What to expect from “The Woman in the House…”?

The series is said to be a satirical thriller, which also shares some common ground with Netflix’s own film, “The Woman in The Window“. While talking with EW, Bell shared her reaction from when she first read the script. She said, “It was like nothing I’d ever heard before, and it made me laugh. It was so outside the box and absurd that I knew I had to be involved.”

All this may make one think that this is a parody of The Woman in The Window, but it is certainly more than just that. The creators instead are just having some fun with the genre.

“I don’t think we are making fun of any of these books, or the movie version of these books. We are having fun with the genre, as opposed to making fun of the genre..”

While talking about her experience of working on this project, Bell said, “This one was particularly challenging because it was, ‘Do I make a joke about this? Or do I play it completely straight, and risk missing the joke?’ Rachel kept me on track. And she basically said, ‘Try to do everything as sincere as possible, but make sure you’re laughing on the inside.'” The end result captures “the best bad acting I’ve ever wanted to accomplish in my career.”

The film features Kristen Bell, of course, who plays the role of a drunk neighbor.

Tom Riley plays the role of an attractive widower and Samsara Yett brings life to the character of his daughter. Other cast members include Michael Ealy, Shelley Hennig, Christina Anthony, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, and Cameron Britton.
