Everything Everywhere All at Once just missed getting into the finals of a category. Oscars have a rather tough competition this year. The 2023 Academy Awards is one of the most prestigious awards a film can get, with both American and international categories included. Although the country has a mix of global cultures.
While most categories are yet to come out, a few of the nominations are out already. The Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert directorial is an action-adventure movie with no shortage of action-packed scenes and mind-bending visuals. While the flick barely missed the chance of a potential Oscar, fans have had a rather mixed reaction to the news.

The internet is divided after Everything Everywhere All at Once gets snubbed in THIS category
While Everything Everywhere All at Once has made it to the list of Sound and Music, it got snubbed out of the Visual Effects category. Competitors in the final list were All Quiet on the Western Front, The Batman, Nope, and Thirteen Lives, etc. The movie sees Michelle Yeoh in the lead. The veteran actress is best known for her movies like Crazy Rich Asians, Avatar: The Way of Water, Tomorrow Never Dies, etc. While her acting got her a lot of credit, fans on Twitter are split over whether the movie deserved an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

The Oscars actively hate creativity while it embraces the most expensive yet generic VFXs

that one shot where joy is sitting in the bar and she rotates her hand might have been the coolest technical thing i’ve seen all year

EEAO had good special effects, but the editing is the main thing that stands out

Why is everyone surprised that EEAAO didn't make VFX shortlist? As much as I love the movie, the visual effects there were simply bad. The only achievement was that they managed to create them with pretty low budget, but VFX branch has good taste and they always choose quality.

I'm not surprised and I fucking called it. The movie was not groundbreaking in the VFX department and the only reason why everyone wanted it on there was because it's a movie everyone loves.
A great movie does not equal great effects and a bad movie doesn't equal bad effects.

Oh shit I copied the wrong list haha. The previous tweet was last year's shortlist. Here's 2022: pic.twitter.com/H42wer8l8P

The award isn’t for who tried the hardest, it’s for the ‘best’ visual effects’. There weren’t even many included in the film. It’s a great film, but nowhere near the best vfx

While it is common for fans to support their favorites, one declared the movie’s loss as ‘snub of the year.’ The movie’s plot revolves around a Chinese-American immigrant who suddenly finds herself in a midst of a powerful situation where she must connect with parallel worlds in order to save the world. The unique sci-fi aspect along with an inclusive cast is what makes the movie unique.

Despite the wonderful effects, some fans do not think that it was Oscar-worthy. Although some also say that the movie’s editing was better than the effects. It is to be seen if the movie manages to bag an award in any other category.
