Weak Hero Class 1 is the first edition of the live action adaption of the Korean Manhwa Weak Hero. The story follows the class ace student Yeon Si-eun who, unfortunately, does not seem to be living his life with an ardor that matches his academic performance. Being troubled with the nonsense that his classmates try bridling him with becomes a norm for him, until he is grouped with the class athlete Ahn-Su-ho and neighboring newcomer Oh-Beom-seok and a friendship buds between the three. The series was first introduced via Korean OTT platform Viki before it gained popularity and is now said to be coming to the streaming platform Netflix on March 25th 2025.
With the second season of the series having said to be under works as of February 2025 and has been bought by Netflix to be streamed on the platform, the story will be picking off from the violently bittersweet ending of first season, and is most probably going to be following the timelines and plots of the original source of the show, the Manhwa Weak Hero.
The South-Korean wave has been a subject of exploration by show-bingers for a long time since its overtaking in the 2010's. And while it had somehow shrunk itself to toe curling romance, the mellowing down of the influence has allowed creators to explore more genres in recent years.
