It is undeniable Netflix chose some of the most fantastic actors when they adapted the famous Witcher saga. It includes Joey Batey, whose mesmerizing presence on screen took the attention of viewers. For three seasons now, he has emulated the beloved bard Jaskier, making fans endlessly swoon over him over the internet. Or one can say his performance has made the character an unexpected star in the series. Meanwhile, on the very first day of 2023, this budding star turned 34. Surprising, isn’t it? Considering he does not look like his age at all.

What might surprise fans more is the gift that the armorers of the team gave him on his birthday as he was shooting season 3.

The Witcher armorers got the best present for Joey Batey

The Witcher page on X recently dropped a video of Joey Batey receiving a “personalized weapon” for his birthday. The video started with Nick Jeffries, who is the chief designer of armorer and weapons in the show. He revealed that Batey, who plays Jaskier, has been asking him for a weapon since the show started. Until now, the designer always turned him down, but on the special occasion of his 34th birthday in January, they gifted him a special weapon.

Jeffries felt that this gift would certainly make the actor happy because his character has remained unarmed in past seasons. Keeping the personality of the bard in mind, they designed it with musical annotations from his most famous song ‘Toss a coin to your Witcher’. Then later that day, the team surprised him with it. Seeing it, the English actor instantly hugged Jeffries and joked that he knew exactly how to make use of it. “This is the weirdest present I’ve ever got, and I absolutely love it,” added Batey.

Though he did not get the chance to use it in the show, it did touch the heart of the artist. Meanwhile, the song title that this weapon embedded played a significant role in the show when it first arrived on Netflix.

Toss a coin to your Witcher took over the mind of viewers

The Witcher has never fallen short of incredible action scenes and badass leading female characters. But fans would agree that nothing could hold a candle to the song ‘Toss A Coin To Your Witcher’. In season 1 episode 2, Jaskier sang this melody for the first time, which was based on his first encounter with Geralt. “Toss a coin to your Witcher! Oh valley of plenty, oh valley of plenty, ohhhh. Toss a coin to your Witcher, a friend of humanity!” read the lyrics.

When the audience heard it, they could not get it off their heads for months. Or one can say it became a synonym for the White Wolf. Jaskier wrapped the entire life story of this mutant in a few lines, praising him for his deeds.
