Stranger Things was big casting lesson for James Cameron in Avatar

In a recent feature story with Entertainment Weekly, James Cameron opened up about the future of the Avatar franchise. During the conversation, he revealed that they had already shot scenes for the third and fourth films. According to the Titanic director, it was the right choice because he didn’t want his cast to look older than depicted in the film.

“Otherwise, you get — and I love Stranger Things — but you get the Stranger Things effect where they’re supposed to still be in high school [but] they look like they’re 27,” explained the director.

Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, who plays the character of Tuk, was only 7 years old in the debut film and is 13 now. Similarly, Jack Champion was cast at the age of 12 and has turned 18 this year. So James Cameron might not be able to stop this growth but he captured all the things in required timelines.
