What is ‘Netflix Book Club’ with Uzo Abuda announced by Netflix?
A lot of Netflix shows and movies are rooted in books. Bridgerton, To All The Boys series, Maid, Orange Is The New Black, Shadow and Bone, Cursed, The Vampire Diaries, The Frankenstein Chronicles, The Queen’s Gambit, Virgin River, The Last Kingdom are but a few of them. And now the long-overdue Netflix Book Club has been launched!
With a large number of books that have inspired the making of many movies or series on Netflix, the platform is launching its official book club. And that isn’t even the best thing- the first host of the club will be Uzo Aduba, two time Emmy Award winner and everyone’s favorite Crazy Eyes from Orange Is The New Black.

What is the Netflix Book Club?
What happens in your average book club? You get together with a bunch of people interested in the same genre. You discuss the details of a book- what you like, what you don’t, what you think will happen, other works by the author, similar recommendations, etc.
Well, the Netflix Book Club is a book club, with a twist.
Netflix will introduce a curated collection of books. The list will be updated constantly. The platform will present new books, soon after which a series based on them will be released!
Books lovers and cinephiles will have the opportunity to discuss the books that inspire artists to create new media. They can discuss the books and the series, the differences between them, watching words being brought to life by a crew of artists- it really couldn’t be better.
The Starbucks Collaboration
Coffee is probably half the essence of dark academia. A conversation about literature, or a book club, wouldn’t be as complete without a cup of coffee. And so, Netflix has collaborated with Starbucks to bring to viewers a social series called But Have You Read The Book?

Stars and storytellers will be invited to a talk show featuring everyone’s favorite Uzo Aduba. These conversations will help bring the audience together in a warm and cozy manner.
The series will kick off with Rebecca Hall’s Passing featuring Tessa Thompson. The movie is based on a 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen. It will hit the screens on the 10th of November, 2021.
