The logo of the story has 3 distinct elements and each of them symbolizes a specific character and their powers. It has Gwynbleidd, Zireael, and the Obsidian Star. Each of these symbols belongs to the protagonists of the series. Additionally, these symbols are a crucial part of these characters’ background stories as well. So, which symbol belongs to which character?

Gwynbleidd

The first symbol represents Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is a monster hunter and has received extensive physical and magical training. Given Geralt’s external look and his way of living, this symbol perfectly suits him. Gwynbleidd is the Elder Speech for the White Wolf, as seen in the books. This is why even Geralt’s medallion has this symbol. The medallion serves as an aid for the Witcher to detect the existence of monsters or magic.

If the viewers notice carefully, Geralt is never seen removing his medallion. In order to sense the danger ahead, he always kept it on, as can be seen throughout the series. Therefore, Gwynbleidd is representative of this lead character, Geralt of Rivia. In fact, when the show was done filming the third season, Cavill gifted this symbolic gift to the crew as well.

Zireael

This symbol represents the Princess Cirilla of Cintra. After uniting with her adoptive father, Geralt of Rivia, by the Law of Surprise, Ciri received training under the White Wolf and received this symbol. The meaning of this symbol is the swallow in Elder Speech. This symbol also has another meaning which makes more sense.

The name Zireael is also the name of the sword constructed for her by gnomes in Tir Tochair. While training as a Witcher, Cirilla earned this sword and used it as well. However, in the original books and video games, Cirilla’s symbol is not a swallow. But associating it with a link to her sword is more relevant here.

In the second season, Ciri began her training under Geralt. Before beginning the training, Geralt explained to Cirilla how the time was changing and that they all needed to be prepared. Therefore, to make herself strong and ready to face anything that may come, she picked up the sword and began her training.

Obsidian Star

Last but not least, this symbol is Yennefer’s star. The star’s appearance in the Netflix drama is different from that in the books. The asymmetrical eight-pointed star has replaced the five-pointed star that hangs upside down. It is a well-known fact that Yennefer wears a striking star pendant on a choker around her neck in both the books and the video games.

Touching the pendant during conversations or idle moments suggests it is linked to her magical abilities. She was always seen wearing the symbol, implying that it not only represents something significant about her past and training, but that it was also a magical object.

All these symbols are the representative of all these lead characters linking them to the roots of their powers. Moreover, it also indicates their paths were supposed to be intertwined with each other by fate.
