Following the release of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans hung up his shield and announced his retirement from the role of Captain America. After nearly a decade as Steve Rogers, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone on without him. Meanwhile Evans has moved on to jobs that broaden his range. Evans&#8217; most notable shift from Captain America comes in the forthcoming Netflix film The Gray Man.
In the film, he plays a joyfully insane assassin.<a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-we-turned-chris-evans-to-americas-ahole-russo-brothers-talk-about-why-turning-captain-into-a-sociopath-for-the-gray-man-was-obvious/"> Lloyd Hansen&#8217;s function is the total opposite of Rogers&#8217;</a>. But that doesn&#8217;t imply Evans has completely abandoned the MCU. A twisted MCU reference was still there in the trailer.

<h2>Chris Evans gives a subtle nod to MCU in The Gray Man trailer</h2>
In the middle of a trailer showcasing Hansen&#8217;s devastation, he riffs on an ancient proverb, noting that &#8220;if you wanna make an omelet, you gotta kill some people.&#8221;

While it appears to be a standard bit of evil talk from an over-the-top action film, it also establishes who <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-gosling/">Ryan Gosling</a>&#8216;s Court Gentry is up against, beyond the causalities Hansen commits, in the trailer. But it also links to what Tony Stark also said in the MCU.
<h2>We first heard it in Civil War</h2>
In <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-we-wanted-to-use-the-winter-soldier-as-a-springboard-joe-russo-on-the-captain-america-connection-of-netflixs-the-gray-man-besides-chris/">Captain America</a>: Civil War, Tony Stark used a variation of the statement. Stark closed a graduating speech at MIT with the remark, &#8220;go break some eggs,&#8221; after revealing that he&#8217;d completely financed every student&#8217;s project with the no-strings-attached September Foundation Grant.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the line was likewise transformed in a memorable way. Thor interrupts some conversation between Ultron and his &#8220;father,&#8221; Iron Man, in an early battle.

Thor assures Ultron that he doesn&#8217;t have to break anything after Ultron warns Iron Man that he&#8217;ll break his heart if he needs to.  &#8220;Clearly, you&#8217;ve never made an omelet,&#8221; Ultron responds.
Iron Man jokes that Ultron outpaced him by one second, demonstrating that the evil AI inherited his &#8220;father&#8217;s&#8221; wit.
<a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/chris-evans/">Chris Evans</a> calling back to MCU <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-ive-aggressively-gone-180-from-steve-rogers-chris-evans-on-going-far-cry-from-captain-america-to-craving-anarchy-in-netflixs-the-gray-man/">while playing a villain</a> is certainly a funny thing. In fact, his while character in the film has a bit of humor, as seen in the trailer. That&#8217;s why this reference does make people chuckle.
