Giving a breath of fresh energy, Tim Burton brought the charismatic daughter of The Addams Family on Netflix. Wednesday, released on November 23, 2022, became a smashing success in no time taking social media by storm. While the horror drama also challenged the viewership of the immensely popular Season 4 of Stranger Things. It was indeed a remarkable achievement for a new show considering the image sci-fi series has created in the past eight years. Now months after that incident, two flagship shows are again facing each other with Jenna Ortega’s show taking a leap.

The official account of Film Updates recently revealed on Twitter that Wednesday has once again surpassed Stranger Things. The coming-of-age comedy has overtaken its honorary title of the most popular English-language for itself. This has happened because the streaming giant just changed its way of measuring the viewership records made by movies and shows.

From now on, Netflix will note down total “views” rather than “hours viewed” and how the show performed in 91 days instead of the first month. The company has done this to give its shows and movies a chance to grow over time. As the instant viewership result sometimes leaves content unnoticed that took viewers’ attention over time.

Therefore, Burton’s adventure now stands on 252.1 million views while Duffer Brothers season 4 has scored only 140.7 million. As for other shows, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story still holds the third seat. But Bridgerton season 1 dethroned its own second season, taking the fourth stop on the list.

Meanwhile, seeing this change, fans are not so content considering the connection they have built with the supernatural drama over the years.

Fans only see Stranger Things on top

Netizens have flooded the comment section of the post expressing their disagreement with the newest takeover. Many are saying that nothing can replace Stranger Things because it is for all ages of viewers. While others are saying Wednesday could never create the impact that the Hawkins gang has left on viewers.

Well, these graphs still have a major moment to witness or one can say the surge that the fifth and final season of the fan-favorite series will bring. Since this might be the biggest showdown that television has ever seen between good and evil. Until then, fans can recharge their memories of that nostalgic world on Netflix.
