Netflix has so many projects in the pipeline that one just forgets about the previous ones. Shadow and Bone was a brilliant show that Netflix released guess what exactly a year ago. Yes! Netflix recently reminded fans of the fantasy show that is now one year old. And to honor the show, they released a never-seen-before deleted scene.

Shadow and Bone deleted scene

Netflix published a stunning deleted scene between General Kirigan (aka the Darkling) and Alina Starkov on NetflixGeeked’s Twitter handle to commemorate the anniversary of debut of Shadow and Bone.

This deleted scene was planned to take place while Alina (Jessie Mei Li) was living at Ravka and her relationship with Kirigan (Ben Barnes) was friendly but not serious.

The Shadow Summoner and the Sun Summoner are riding through a field on their respective black and white horses. Alina extends her arms like a bird set to take flight while riding, clearly enjoying the sensation of freedom. Kirigan keeps a close eye on her and even grins a real smile as he admires her.

Upon seeing the new scene, fans are demanding a full extended version of it. Some are even asking for a ‘Pride and Prejudice’ cut of the show.

Where would the scene fit in the actual show?

This sequence would lead to Alina and Kirigan conversing in front of a fountain. In this episode, the Sun Summoner expresses her concern over not being able to live up to everyone’s high expectations, and Kirigan assures her that this will not be the case.

Sadly, almost everything Kirigan said in this scene turned out to be a lie.

Shadow and Bone is based on the Grishaverse series by Leigh Bardugo. The second season, which was announced on June 7 of last year, and would most likely adapt Siege and Storm, the second novel in the series. The second season will include eight episodes, much like the first.

Shawn Levy, Josh Barry, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment, Pouya Shahbazian and Shelley Meals of Loom Studios, and Bardugo herself are executive producers on the project.
