WATCH: Ryan Reynolds Cannot Return as Green Lantern Because Deadpool Shot Him
Before everyone starts reminiscing Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, now that DC is in new hands, we would like you to stop. There are many reasons apart from the fact that Green Lantern created a $200 million worth dent in Warner Bros’ pockets that the movie will not be returning.
And one of the main reasons is Reynolds’ absolute hatred towards it. You know that one choice that you want to go back in time and tell yourself to not make? Ryan Reynolds, on countless occasions, has instituted it would be rejecting Green Lantern for him. And he did just that.

Ryan Reynolds uses Deadpool to save his career
Ryan Reynolds redeemed himself with Deadpool. Not just as an actor, but also by going back in time and shooting himself before he agreed to play Green Lantern in the DC universe. In a sequence that never made it to the final cut of Deadpool 2, Reynolds is seen with the Green Lantern script in his hands, only for Deadpool to barge in and shoot him in the end. And like that wasn’t enough, the Merc in a mouth said, “Your welcome Canada!” The actor has over the years ridiculed his decision to choose the movie more times than we can count on our fingers.
Making Deadpool shoot him in the head was Reynolds’s take on “Taylor can’t come on the phone right now. Why? Because she is dead”
Furthermore, by releasing a scene where he shoots himself before he says yes to Green Lantern, Reynolds ensures that he never gets cast as the DC hero again. And if James Gunn’s latest tweets are anything to go by, Reynolds’ entry into DC again is close to impossible.

This should not be very concerning for Reynolds, looking at how he has become Marvel’s favorite anti-hero. Furthermore, Deadpool 2 was not the only time Reynolds ridiculed Green Lantern in public. The actor has several tweets where he expresses his hate for the character.

Despite the recent drama that the Deadpool 2 deleted scene of Reynolds shooting himself before agreeing to Green Lantern has caused, the actor has cleared the fact that he is not making fun of others. “I think it’s more about just laughing at myself, not laughing at other people necessarily, that are involved in a project,” Reynolds told Corey Chicizola.
