Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are not quite finished with Netflix. Their last collaboration on the crime drama series, Ozark, was a massive hit, and now they are about to reunite for another Netflix show, Black Rabbit. Netflix has kept quiet about the details of the show created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, but they could not keep the behind-the-scenes photos from spreading like wildfire all across the web.

Here is the first look of Bateman and Linney working together on their upcoming project, which has been making the rounds since last year.

In June of last year, a photo showing Jason Bateman with long hair and a scruffy beard, holding a script on the Black Rabbit set surfaced. While Bateman was likely in character, Laura Linney took on the role of director, gesturing and guiding him as he read. A month later, more images from the set appeared, showing Bateman and Linney together again. In the July shots, the Carry-On actor even had a bandaged hand.

Bateman sat attentively as Linney gave instructions from a doorstep in New York City after filming a scene with Michael Cash. In May, Tudum revealed that Bateman would direct the first two episodes, while Linney would helm the third and fourth. Although plot details for the show are still under wraps, it has been teased as a tense sibling drama involving a chaotic brother disrupting his successful sibling’s life. While the premise does sound interesting, Bateman’s new look was not well received by many of his fans.

As soon as the Black Rabbit behind-the-scenes snippets surfaced, fans took to social media to express their disappointment at the departure of Bateman’s usual persona.

Fans were concerned about Jason Bateman’s transformation

Over the past few years, Jason Bateman has embraced a few darker, more complex roles. Whether it was Ozark, Carry-On, or now Black Rabbit, he has stepped out of his comfort zone as an actor, which has left some fans uneasy. Many were not happy with Bateman’s Black Rabbit appearance, as it strayed far from his usual polished, well-groomed persona, making him look disheveled and almost unrecognizable.
