For nine long years, Jonathan Larson worked on weekdays as a waiter at the Moondance Diner. During weekends, he worked on the musicals. The legend of Larson was tragic indeed as he died right before all of his works were coming to fruition. On the very day that “Rent”, Larson’s first musical was having its first off-Broadway preview performance, Larson suffered an aortic dissection, presumably because of an undiagnosed Marfan syndrome.

Though Larson died young, the impression of his undeniable genius lives on. Both of his works have changed the face of theater. An example of this is Hamilton. Though completely unrelated to Larson, the musical wouldn’t have been half as successful had it not been for Larson’s works and the impact on theater he had in the last century.
