Despite the efforts of Elizabeth, Markle could not adjust to the royal family. The Duchess felt trapped in the Palace. She was also concerned about not being protected by the institution. She, alongside Prince Harry, quit her royal duties in January 2020. The couple is now living in Montecito as a family of four, with their two children, Lilibet and Archie.
