Meghan Markle recalls her preparations for the British citizenship exam

In the eighth episode of her podcast Archetypes, Meghan Markle got candid about her attempt to pass the British citizenship exam. The former actress revealed that the exam is extremely challenging. She also revealed how she would constantly disturb Prince Harry to ask if he knew of certain things about the United Kingdom.

In a conversation with Pamela Adlon, Markle mentioned, “That citizenship exam is so hard! I was studying for it, and I remember going, ‘Oh my goodness.’ I would ask my husband, ‘Did you know this? Did you know this?’ And people went, ‘Oh, I had no idea.’ “

Listening about Markle’s miseries, Adlon joked about how the people in the UK made the test difficult, especially for the Suits alum. The Sussex royal did not deny the claim as she added, “You think?”

At present, Markle does not hold dual citizenship as she only has an American passport and not UK’s. For a person to become a British citizen, it is important to live in the country for a minimum of three years. The Duchess failed to fulfill this criterion. She married Prince Harry in May 2018 in Windsor Castle. However, she, along with Harry and Archie, decided to relocate to California, away from the royal household in January 2020.
