“Violence, s*x, and swearing”- Ed Skrein Dishes on Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ Pitch Hours After The Trailer Drop
Fans are going gaga over the trailer of the upcoming sci-fi thriller Rebel Moon. The Netflix franchise will be debuting its first part, A Child of Fire, in December on the OTT platform. The trailer had all the aspects of a high-tech movie and also kept the emotional touch by showcasing love, grief, and vengeance. Zack Snyder, known for creating superhero and fantasy movies, had an interesting pitch while describing his movie to Ed Skrein.
Skrein, who is portraying the sadistic Admiral Atticus Noble, revealed how the filmmaker described this fantasy film to him. Snyder compared Rebel Moon to another space opera franchise but with a gritty twist.

Snyder, who is not only directing this space action thriller but also serving as a director of photography, had this project in his mind for years. Finally, after making Army of the Dead rank as one of Netflix’s most-watched movies, the Justice League director brought his dream to fruition. The British actor revealed that years ago, Snyder described Rebel Moon as a Star Wars spin-off. Snyder went on to say, “It’s like Star Wars but with violence, s*x, and swearing” when Skrein inquired about his upcoming project, reported by Den Of Geek.
The co-writer and director of Rebel Moon confirmed that the movie will follow a typical good vs. evil trope with lots of battle sequences. The storyline will revolve around a colony of peaceful farmers threatened by the barbaric army of the Imperium. Enters Kora, the savior, who teams up with a group of misfits in order to protect her people.
While the popular actor aka Daario Naharis in HBO’s Game of Thrones will surely win a lot of hearts as Noble, Sofia Boutella will be an absolute show stealer!

Boutella plays the protagonist of Rebel Moon, who protects the innocent villagers from the Imperium. She is a fighter who has been trained for years and is proficient with any kind of weapon. However, Kora is not without her flaws. She has a dark mysterious past with several shortcomings that make her more ‘human’ and not as mighty as an obvious hero. And that’s what makes this character Snyder’s favorite.
Snyder likes the fact that Kora has “made choices and without blaming it on other people”. He also revealed that he was hell-bent on signing Boutella for this role. The director could not imagine anyone else playing Kora and said even if Boutella “was the most uncoordinated person in the world” he would have still hired her.
