Will Smith is probably the most well-known face on Earth. His career may have started after making a few rap songs under the now-iconic pseudonym “Fresh Prince.” But Smith has proven that he is as capable an actor as he is a musician. His films like Pursuit of Happyness and Hitch are now classics. But one of his films, Gemini Man is getting popular after a long time.

Gemini Man was directed by two-time Oscar winner Ang Lee and written by Billy Ray, Darren Lemke, and David Benioff (Game of Thrones). Smith plays Henry Brogan, a former Marine shooter tasked with assassinating a bio-terrorist. While on the assignment, he meets Jackson Brogan, a younger, cloned version of himself. The action thriller also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong.

The film grossed $173.5 million worldwide, although it was a box office flop due to its $138 million budget.

But the film has a newfound success thanks to Netflix, but not in the US though. Gemini Man has landed a spot on Netflix’s weekly Top 10 global ranking.

However, because the film is not available to watch in the United States, US subscribers did not influence its popularity on the platform. Blade Runner 2049 is at the number one spot, followed by The Adam Project, a Netflix original film starring Ryan Reynolds on the US chart.

Netflix subscribers streamed Gemini Man 11.84 million times during the week of March 14-20. It ranked third in the global Top 10 chart, slightly ahead of Liam Neeson’s The Ice Road, with 11.84 million hours of viewing.

Unfortunately for the US fans after reading this article, if you wish to stream the movie you won’t be able to. At least not on Netflix. Due to distributing rights being different for each region, the streamer does not have Gemini Man.

In fact, no other streaming platform has the rights to the film. This means, those who want to watch the film in the US need rent to buy a DVD of the film.

What about Will Smith’s recent endeavors?

King Richard, Smith’s most recent film, has fared significantly better with critics and audiences. He portrays Richard Williams, the father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams, and the film follows his unique tactics for grooming his children to become the successful athletes they are today. Smith’s performance will likely earn him the Best Actor Oscar.

The film bagged Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Aunjanue Ellis, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Song nominations at the Oscars.
