The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle might be having tons of reasons to celebrate however, there is a tiny pothole. Along with Prince Harry blasting the royal family in the ongoing legal case against ANL and Meghan Markle winning against her half-sister, Samantha Markle, there’s another important paperwork revolving around Archetypes that the couple had been handling for a few months.

As reported by Hello Magazine, the royal owners of Archewell, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, had filed a request to trademark the word Archetypes, which was originally the name of the award-winning global hit podcast by the Duchess, Meghan Markle. Named after their firstborn, Prince Archie of Sussex, the couple wanted to pursue the name in their budding empire as a legit trademark for their brand.

Owing to the same, they took their requests to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. However, unfortunately, their submissions were dismissed by the authority for a major reason. Although not finalized, the verdict passed stated that the name was susceptible to a “likelihood of confusion.

It was also stated that a name as such previously existed which could have resulted in mass confusion. Nonetheless, the outlet also revealed that the reason for dismissal was not that big of a deal. Since the likelihood of confusion is one of the most common reasons for the USPTO to decline such trademark requests, it spared the couple of the possible indignation that could have followed.

What did the Archetypes trademark mean

Archewell audio submitted the request under the name of the Sussexes last year in March. The claim, if passed, would have enabled the owners to have exclusive rights over Archewell productions, including all of its works. Everything that was done in collaboration with the Archewell studios, thus, would not have been available for any other brand or organization to use.
