Despite being the longest-running sci-fi program ever, Doctor Who has just lately begun portraying the Time Lord as someone other than a heterosexual white guy. It&#8217;s been a while since we&#8217;ve seen any trans characters on the program. Doctor Who has always had a large LGBTQ+ following, and we are happy that returning showrunner Russell T. Davies seems to be capable of giving us the delightfully queer sci-fi epic that homosexuals want.
“I got to meet and interact with him a bit and he’s glorious,” Harris says of Gatwa. “He’ll be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool, a sexier Doctor.”, Neil said in an interview with <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/podcasts/neil-patrick-harris-uncoupled-sex-scene-doctor-who-1235329259/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a>.

It&#8217;s possible that Gatwa&#8217;s Doctor is gay if Neil Patrick Harris, who worked on the 60th-anniversary specials, isn&#8217;t just guessing. As Eric Effiong on <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/sex-education/">Sex Education</a>, Gatwa has previously portrayed him as a homosexual. Harris is said to be taking on the part of The Toymaker. It is played by Michael Gough in the original Doctor Who series.

While discussing his part, Harris remarked, &#8220;I&#8217;ll do my hardest to do my worst.&#8221;
The episodes featuring Harris will be released in the year 2023 as a part of the show&#8217;s 60th anniversary.
