There is not a single Christopher Nolan film — not one — that is not worth checking out at least once in life. Having said that, every legendary filmmaker has some selected projects that stand out as their masterpieces, something that people immediately associate with them. After the biggest blockbuster of Nolan’s career in 2023, many fans are now saying Oppenheimer is his best work yet. While that is a debatable topic, there are two films that always pop into our head as soon as we hear the name Christopher Nolan.

As we near 2025, Netflix is bringing those two iconic Nolan films straight to its platform.

Christopher Nolan has this special gift for making movies that keep fans on the edge of their seat, while making them think deep at the same time. And the two movies from his collection that have woven the most existential questions into the story, tackling themes like time, memory, identity, and the very nature of reality, are Inception and Interstellar. According to a recent report by Variety, on January 1st, Netflix will be adding these masterpieces to its library.

Beyond their innovative techniques and boundary-pushing storylines, these two films have a clear connection to Greek mythology as well. In fact, most of Nolan’s films have ties to Greek mythology, as a film critic recently pointed out after the director’s upcoming Greek epic adaptation was announced. Nolan is working on another large-scale project called The Odyssey, inspired by Homer’s legendary work.

While details about the project are still carefully veiled, looking at past trends, fans have guessed who could be playing the lead in it.

The Odyssey might have a familiar Christopher Nolan-regular as lead

The Odyssey, which was recently announced by Universal Pictures, has brought in some major A-listers. From the Spider-Man duo and the 'It' Hollywood couple, Tom Holland and Zendaya, to acclaimed actors like Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron, Christopher Nolan has certainly pulled together an interesting ensemble for the adaptation. However, fans are betting that Damon is the one who will lead the project, with many citing Cillian Murphy as a key example.

Murphy has long been a go-to actor for Nolan. He has played supporting roles in multiple Nolan films before landing the lead role in Oppenheimer. Fans now feel that, since Damon has worked as a supporting actor in two Nolan films, it is his time to take the lead in The Odyssey and maybe even get the ‘Cillian Murphy treatment.’ That said, The Odyssey still has a long way to go before it hits the big screen, and until then, Netflix has come to the rescue, packed with some Nolan masterpieces.
