Twitter Is Buzzing With Fans Demanding ‘First Kill’ Season 2 After Heartstopper’s Instant Renewal

Netflix is notorious for churning out too much content and canceling them without any qualms. There are a bunch of shows on the Netflix catalog that have only gotten the first season before the streamer pulled the plug. Now fans of teen supernatural romance drama, First Kill are worried that the streamer may join the ranks of those shoes that never got a season 2. They have enough reasons to worry given that another Netflix YA show, Heartstopper got instantly renewed.

Fans want Netflix to renew First Kill for season 2

The teen drama focuses on the romance between two teenage girls Juliette and Calliope. Their warring families have pitted the two girls against each other. While the former comes from a family of vampires, the latter comes from a family that has sworn to lay down every living vampire on earth. On its first three days of debut on Netflix, the show garnered a viewership of 30.34 million hours. Meanwhile, Heartstopper only accrued 14.55 million views.

Despite acquiring higher viewership than Heartstopper, Netflix hasn’t greenlighted First Kill season 2 yet. And it isn’t sitting well with the fans.

Since the last season ended with too many cliffhangers, it’s safe to assume that the creators didn’t intend Juliette and Calliope’s story to be a one-season arc. The show has to come back for another season to tie up the loose ends.

What to expect from a second installment?

By the end of season 1, the couple breaks up after Juliette unintentionally turns Calliope’s brother Theo into a vampire. We’ll have to see whether they find a way back to each other or not. Meanwhile, Theo is on the run from his own family and has to come to terms with his own monstrosity. And lastly, Juliette’s sister Elinor has to find a way to escape jail without her family’s help.

If Netflix commissions a First Kill season 2, chances are it won’t make it to your screens until next year. Till then fill your thirst for vampires here.

The 2 shows are NOT comparable. Heartstopper has UNIVERSAL ACCLAIM (100%) vs 57% for First Kill. Secondly…First Kill episodes were more than TWICE the length of Heartstopper’s.

Thirdly…the audience they were aimed at are different. Heartstopper was aimed at a very young audience. First Kill was aimed at a much older one. This isn’t hard to understand.
