If done right, life has ways of coming to a full circle. After a bold march down Oscar Road, Cillian Murphy is finally stepping back into his gangland days to finish what he started. Over a decade ago, the Oscar-winner made the world travel back to post-World War I England with Peaky Blinders, earning a staple spot in households by breathing new life into the genre of historical dramas. Now that the BBC has to trim its storytelling from six seasons to a movie, Murphy shared his thoughts on this retreat.
As they celebrate 12 years since the start of it all, Murphy just laid out what it feels like to be back in the world of Peaky Blinders.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cillian Murphy was asked about his opinion on retreating with a Peaky Blinders movie back in the gangland universe. Calling it initially a strange experience, Murphy explained how the comeback is different but familiar, all at the same time. Murphy added he began filming Peaky Blinders, the BBC series exactly twelve years ago this month, calling it a “big chunk of his life.”
Returning with a Peaky Blinders movie, he felt the experience was quite overwhelming and emotional. However, in the second long snippet, the Irish actor laid bare his appreciation for Tom Harper, the director, Tim Roth, and all the other amazing actors they brought from the TV show. Additionally, Murphy seized the opportunity for a shout-out to the fresh additions, Barry Keoghan, and Rebecca Fergusson.
Murphy’s feelings make sense considering his history with the show, but the newbies are not slacking off in bringing the crime-munching vibes, especially since their first look from the film has already been dropped.

Last Friday, Netflix unveiled the very first look at Saltburn star Barry Keoghan in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film. In the picture, Keoghan is seen sporting the signature Peaky Blinders cap aka the Gatsby cap, and a leather jacket, with a fresh cut on his face, peeking from the front of a truck. While the first look left fans in a frenzy, the details about Keoghan’s character still are a mystery.
Meanwhile, Just Jared recently shared Rebecca Fergusson’s first glimpse from the sets of the Peaky Blinders movie where she was seen filming a scene with Murphy on Monday morning in Manchester, England. While which role Murphy will play in the upcoming film requires no brainstorming, having already said this retreat is for his fans alone, the specifics about Fergusson’s role like Keoghan’s are still under wraps.
