The premise of The World’s Greatest Heist

Money Heist begins with Tokyo, the show’s first-person narrator. The “Professor” had just saved her from being arrested after a failed bank robbery. However, he then includes her in a team comprising 7 other thieves. The group used aliases named after cities- Tokyo, Moscow, Berlin, Nairobi, Rio, Denver, Helsinki, and Oslo.

And the rest is history.

Throughout its three seasons, Money Heist has kept its viewers on the edges of their seats. Be it Berlin’s sacrifice, Nairobi’s death, or Tokyo being thrown out of the Royal Mint of Spain for her mutiny. And who can forget the moment Raquel fully transforms into Lisbon?

The twist at the end of Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1

Remember how Berlin died for a while? Here’s a little run-over for the viewers who don’t remember it with accuracy.

Berlin, since the very beginning of the Netflix Original, had come across as a power-hungry and quite egocentric man. He even threw Tokyo out when she questioned his authority and planned to take over. But his death made the team and the viewers forget all about his misdeeds.

In the second season, while the team is all set to escape through the tunnel they dug, Berlin stays behind. He lets all the other members of the gang escape. The man is later shot multiple times in the chest. Viewers believed it indefinitely killed him. But the man was back!

Of poetic similarity is the death of Tokyo at the end of Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 1. With the Professor being captured and the heist crumbling down magnificently, the army was approaching the gang. Tokyo, in a very Gandalf and Balrog style, decided to take one for the team. She allowed Denver and Manila to escape and her final goodbye to Rio was particularly painful.

What to expect from Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2?

Viewers were expecting, or hoping at least, for Tokyo to be back like Berlin. But actress Úrsula Corberó, who plays Tokyo, confirmed that Tokyo is gone for good.

So, the final addition to this Spanish thriller series will deal with the rest of the team after Tokyo’s tragic death. The trailer of Money Heist: Part 5 Vol. 2 points towards many unanswered questions and cliffhangers.
