The former Superman has always been a big fan of The Witcher, as per Redanian Intelligence. When he came to know about Lauren Schmidt’s project, he left no stone unturned in bagging a role in it. He became desperate to the point where the maker actually started to find him “annoying”. Despite auditioning 206 actors for this lead role, Schmidt could not find anyone better suited to play Geralt. And that’s how Cavill ended up on the show. But why was he so interested in this role?
Cavill became a fan of The Witchers ever since he came across the CD Projekt RED’s video game. As someone who has always been fascinated by the fantasy world, this game opened several doors of imagination and amusement for the actor. He even gave the book a try to absolutely fell in love with its “spectacular” writing. His love for the series is what makes him a perfect fit for this role.

From Geralt’s wig to his raspy voice, everything has been evolving ever since the first look for the titular character was out. The Witcher fans back then didn’t feel that Cavill was a good fit for this role owing to the difference in physicality and mannerisms. But once they saw him in the trailer, they flooded the internet with memes for Cavill’s Geralt. Cavill also performed all his stunts in the action sequences by himself.
The season 1 director in an interview with ScreenRant said, “Henry does every single beat of his stunts, he won’t even allow a hand”, showcasing how dedicated the actor was to his role. Cavill also addressed fans’ disappointment in modifying the original novel in the series. Moreover, he ensured the second season was closer to the books. He said in a WitcherCon interview, “I think it’s very important to listen to an audience and see what everyone’s saying.”
