It was in 2019 that Netflix decided to bring to life perhaps one of the most renowned fictional worlds in the form of The Witcher series. Birthed by Andrzej Sapkowski and perfected over the course of eight books, the series is the apple of many eyes. An apple that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Netflix polished with a multi-million budget and Henry Cavill as Geralt. However, as it drops the curtains on the finale of Season 3, fans are tasting the most poisonous part of the apple.

Starting from the very first season, it was quite hard to not point out the stark differences between the actual tales written in Sapkowski’s magnum opus and Hissrich’s retelling. But fans were willing to brush it under the rug with one look from Henry Cavill’s determined eyes. However, as he excuses his shoulders from carrying the show, there were only limited elements that the creators at Netflix could use to their benefit. The shiniest and trustworthy among these was Yennefer’s mother figure, Rectoress of Aretzua, Tissaia de Vries.

Tissaia was remarkably played by MyAnna Buring. However, she climbed to her pinnacle and fell to her nadir in just three episodes of The Witcher Season 3.

It was in the sixth and most anticipated episode of the series that the sorceress channeled the most supreme of strengths as she used Alzur’s Thunder to end the Thanedd coup with one sway of her hand.

Fans were only done penning down their “Boss Girl!” notes of appreciation on their social media handles before they were met with her loss in the final episode.

Fans enraged after losing another beloved character from The Witcher

The Netflix fantasy series receives a lot of flak for digressing too far from the source. In a rare case scenario, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich turned to Sapkowski’s book to bid adieu to Tissaia. However, it was not her smartest move given how she had already taken from fans Henry Cavill as Geralt. The salt on this wound has proved to be exceptionally painful as the audiences mourn the loss of the beloved sorceress.

She ends her life as she is engulfed by guilt at the realization that her hands are bloodied by the death of her own students. But for one thing that it does right, the show makes a gazillion mistakes. Following the trope of using its fallen soldiers for PR, The Witcher‘s Twitter handle has posted a slight joke about how fans must be feeling after seeing what happens to Tissaia in the finale. And this did not go well.

From how the creators have committed a blasphemous act against The Witcher lore to how the series has met its end, fans did not hold their tongues back. However, there is one upside to all this, that is, for those who stay back for The Witcher Season 4, the probable rise to prominence of The Lodge of Sorceresses.
