Whether it is a movie star, music star, or any other public figure, it is next to impossible to avoid the paparazzi. The name and fame come with wanted and unwanted media attention. And for a TV star turned Royal like Meghan Markle, the constant public eye is even harder to shake off. In fact, even long before Harry and Meghan’s infamous exit from the House of Windsor, as a new Royal, the Duchess of Sussex was always in the limelight.

So much so that Meghan Markle’s presence once caused chaos for another celebrity. Back in 2019, through no fault of theirs, actress Natalie Portman and her family got swarmed by the shutterbugs. Let us find out what went down.

The Royal baby shower for Meghan Markle inadvertently affected Natalie Portman

Back when Meghan Markle was pregnant with her firstborn, Archie, the Royal lady came down to the states for her baby shower. This was the Duchess’s first trip home since the Royal Wedding. While the details of the baby shower were supposed to be confidential, no amount of secrecy could keep the media at bay. Unsurprisingly, there was a huge crowd of paparazzi outside the venue, The Mark Hotel- Manhattan.

Coincidentally, the V For Vendetta actress, Natalie Portman, was also at the same hotel. Clearly, the Academy Award-winning actress and her family did not expect the media mayhem. Perhaps on a family vacation, the actress was in casual attire, wearing sneakers, a messy bun, and a makeup-free look. There were so many cameras snapping away at her and her family that they had to slip out of the upper eastside hotel in a haste. Unfortunately, there were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. 

Shortly after their exit, the Lady Sussex also emerged from the venue. Unlike the Black Swan actress, the former Suits seemed prepared for the camera. Sporting an all-black look with matching shades, the Duchess strolled passed the media holding her baby bump. Her classic nude-colored pumps completed her minimal, no-frills, chic ensemble.

Today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in a gorgeous mansion in Montecito, California, raising their two kids, Archie and Lilibet. The two even run a company named Archewell Inc. together, which includes their non-profit organization and a production house. While much has changed since 2019, one aspect that remains is the media attention.
