Curtis has been supporting her pals all over the 2023 award season. When her dearest friend Michelle Yeoh won her first Golden Globe, the person who was most happy for her was none other than Jamie. However, it is now Jamie’s turn to shine, as she got her first Oscar nomination at the age of 64.

While a majority of people project it in an extremely glorified way, Curtis decided to keep it simple when she posted about her Oscar nomination. “THIS IS WHAT SURPRISE LOOKS LIKE!”, is what she wrote as she posted herself while covering her mouth as she saw the Oscar nominations.

Later that day she posted herself in pajamas when she officially announced her nomination to her followers. Most importantly, she mentioned in the caption, “No filters. No fakery. Just the truth of a moment of joy Captured by a friend.”

Jamie was nominated for the 2022 adventure sci-fi blockbuster Everything Everywhere All at Once. She played the role of IRS inspector Deirdre Beaubeirdre which got her the first Oscar nomination of her 45-year-long career. She began her career in 1978 through the film Halloween, in which she played the role of “scream queen,” which is still a big part of her identity to this day.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the actress said that she received a call from an old friend and Oscar-winning actress Debbie Oppenheimer early in the morning. She stated that she was standing outside her house, wondering if Curtis would be interested in watching the announcement with her.

Everything, everywhere, all at once received 11 nominations, including best picture and best director. The directors of the film are Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and the film was a blockbuster. Apart from Curtis, the cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Key Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, and James Hong.
