This Detail About Geralt’s Fertility From ‘The Witcher’ Video Game May Just Turn Out to Be More Revolting Than Liam Hemsworth
The Witcher series on Netflix, as popular as it may be, has always been faulted for its inaccuracy to the source material. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s series is the third product stemming from Andrzej Sapkowski’s continent. First came the splendid collection of eight books and then the video game. Both the book and the video game boast an enormous fanbase that has pledged allegiance to the lore that has Geralt at the helm of affairs. And the Netflix series has constantly been pushed by fans to follow their example, except for one character trait of the Geralt.
As Netflix’s The Witcher bid farewell to Henry Cavill, who won hearts and views through his lore-accurate depiction of Geralt, the audiences were worried that the show would lose credibility. But looking at things now, fans of Yennefer and Geralt, are grateful for the show’s divergence from the original plots.

When Netflix announced that they would be replacing Cavill with Liam Hemsworth, it caused a tremendous uproar across the fandom. Many went on to state that this was a grave mistake on the production’s part and the show may never recover. But those who have not read the books or tried their hand at the video games, do not know that the worst is yet to come. Taking inspiration right from Geralt and Yennefer shippers’ nightmares, both the book and the video game adaptation featured the White Wolf having sexual encounters with other women.
The Netflix series for all its faults is absolutely cherished for getting Geralt and Yennefer’s relationship right. In fact, the two were the highlight of Season 3. Netflix depicted Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, as each other’s found family. While the incorporation of Ciri into their relationship provided a great insight into what the two would be like as parents, it also made up for the fact that they could not have kids.
Due to Yennefer’s magical transformation, the sorceress has been rendered infertile and hence can never have kids. However, Geralt has had no such transformation, and he is very much not sterile. This means that there is a possibility of Geralt having lovers other than Yennefer.

The recent season of The Witcher has ended with the beloved trio of Henry Cavill’s Geralt, Freya Allan’s Ciri, and Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, going on different routes. This leaves room for the creators of the Netflix show to explore more of the While Wolf’s romantic life. In both the video game adaptation, Geralt, although falls deeply in love with Yennefer, also enjoys a richer palette in his love life with other characters such as Triss Merigold and Shani.
Given that The Witcher Season 4 has truly nothing to lose, it might as well try its hand at painting a more diverse image of Geralt’s love life. Perhaps it might even infuse the compliments it garnered for bringing a diverse range of horrifying monsters to life with the White Wolf’s love life. While this is yet to be confirmed by the creators, given that the next season’s Geralt is Liam Hemsworth, it will not be surprising if the odds are in his favor.
