A living legend, Harrison Ford, boasts of a successful career spanning decades. From his captivating portrayal of Indiana Jones to his embodiment of the legendary Han Solo, Ford has shined in every role he has played. His characters were often seen displaying qualities of valor, dedication, and an unyielding sense of justice. One such role he played has just made its way to the streaming giant, Netflix.

A patriotic and political thriller, Clear and Present Danger came out in the year 1994 as the third part of a trilogy. The protagonist, Jack Ryan, is a skilled CIA analyst dedicated to his job and country. Played by Jones, Jack Ryan wades through a web of corruption and deceit as the movie progresses. Filled with action and suspense, the movie wowed audiences as soon as it hit theaters. And now, thanks to Netflix, it can wow us from the comfort of our homes.

Clear and Present Danger was the most successful of its predecessors in the trilogy. But it was not the first movie in which the 81-year-old actor had played the role of Jack Ryan. Two years prior, he was also seen as the CIA analyst in the prequel, Patriot Games. While all three movies of the trilogy are based on novels by the same names written by Tom Clancy, Clear and Present Danger grossed the most of the three, raking in $215.9 million at the box office.

With its top-notch cast and amazing performances, the movie even bagged two Emmy nominations. While the star of the movie is Ford, it also features an esteemed veteran actor, James Earl Jones. Portraying the head of the CIA, Jones played the role of Admiral James Greer, who is Jack Ryan’s superior in the movie. But the character of Jack Ryan himself was actually played by a different actor before falling in the lap of Harrison Ford.

First in the trilogy came The Hunt for Red October, which followed the character of Jack Ryan through a submarine mystery. In this edition of the three-part series, the protagonist was played by Alec Baldwin, who recently made headlines for being linked to the infamous Sarma Melngailis of Netflix’s Bad Vegan fame. But the Beetlejuice actor left the franchise after the first movie.

Baldwin went going on to shine in the drama film, Glengarry Glen Ross as the iconic character of Blake. Both actors who once played the role of Jack Ryan went on to become notably famous legends in Hollywood. Through their dedication to their craft, they have inspired many later generations of aspiring actors.
