Watching a horror movie on Halloween night is a sort of tradition. But not everyone has the stomach for the likes of The Exorcist. So, here’s a list of kid’s Halloween movies on Netflix.

Nightbooks

Based on J. A. White’s novel of the same name, Nightbooks is a child-friendly scary movie.

The movie is about a young boy from Brooklyn- Alex Mosher, who loves to write horror stories. However, he swears never to write another again.

As Alex is about to burn his “Nightbooks”, he is bewitched into entering a magical apartment, in which dwells an evil witch. Alex is now required to create a new horror story and recite it to her every night, or stay trapped in her apartment forever.

Gremlins

Everyone who dislikes adult horror movies can’t necessarily be into animated ones. Gremlins is the perfect alternative for them.

A gadget salesman is scouring the marketplace for a gift for his son. At a rather sketchy store, he finds a “mogwai”. Small, furry, and endlessly adorable, the mogwai seems the perfect gift. The salesman, rather harshly, warns the man never to expose the mogwai to bright light, water, or feed him after midnight. Unfortunately, as all things are done, a gang of gremlins is vandalizing the town on Christmas Eve.

ParaNorman

ParaNorman is another horror movie that scares the viewers but ensures that it doesn’t go too far- a perfect kid’s Halloween movie on Netflix.

In the small town of Blithe Hollow, an 11-year-old Norman can speak to the dead, including his deceased grandmother. Considered to be a liar or mentally unstable, he grows up lonely and is bullied at times. Before passing away, Norman’s seemingly demented uncle tells him that he must save the town from a curse.

Goosebumps

Based on RL Stine’s children’s horror book series of the same name, Goosebumps is another children’s horror movie on Netflix that isn’t animated.

After moving from New York City to the small town of Madison, Zach Cooper meets a new girl, Hannah. However, Hannah’s excessively overprotective father asks Zach to stay away from her multiple times. Hannah’s father turns out to be a popular horror book author whose works seem to come to life, and now they must save Madison from the monsters in his books.

What is a horror movie list without a mention of Tim Burton?

Corpse Bride, sometimes known as Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, is perhaps one of the finest animated horror movies out there.

The families of Victor and Victoria have planned their wedding. Victor is anxious about the ceremony, despite the fact that they like one another. A tree branch transforms into a hand and takes him to the realm of the dead as he’s rehearsing his lines for the wedding in the woods. It was the hand of Emily, who was killed after eloping with her love and wishes to marry Victor. Before Victoria marries the evil Barkis Bittern, Victor must return aboveground.
