“There won’t be scab scripts..” – Neil Gaiman Gives Fans Hope for ‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Amidst the WGA Strike
The Sandman may have to leave fans looking at the hourglass. The current writer’s strike has left everyone in a dilemma. It has not only affected the writers or show makers but awaiting fans as well. The first season of the Netflix original left everyone reeling for more. While we know the OTT platform for canceling shows after the first season, popular demand and storyline made them reconsider.
The show first premiered on Netflix back in August 2022. It had eleven episodes entailing the story picked from the comics Gaiman wrote. DC Comics published the comic before it turned into a show. It quickly gained good reviews considering how well it was adapted into a show. But like most other entertainment projects, this too could feel the effects of the much-discussed strike.

Viewers looking forward to their favorite movies or shows are all in question about the release, considering that there is no fixed date when it comes to the strike. Netflix was very careful when calling the return of The Sandman as the creation of ‘new episodes’ instead of referring to it as ‘season 2’. According to Screenrant, the creator took to his Tumblr account to update fans on the show’s progress amidst the writer’s strike. He was straight up while being positive in his message.
Gaiman stated that The Sandaman’s new episodes will face a delay if the strike continues. “And there won’t be scab scripts on Sandman“, he guaranteed. However, he is not opposed to the strike either. The creator is himself a member of the WGA and gives his full support to their objectives.

While this project of his may or may not get affected, at least one of the queued-up ones remains safe.
What will happen to the creator’s other shows?
The strike has affected all the shows that are in progress at this point. But Good Omens, which premiered on Prime Video on 31st May 2023, was already done with the writing part. The finished work has already been handed over to the OTT platform, although the fate of his Dead Boy Detectives remains in the dark. The writer’s association is demanding better pay, considering the hours they put in for the shows for less payment. It will be seen how Netflix deals with the situation now as well.
