A small misunderstanding cost Ryan Gosling big

The Lovely Bones is a 2009 supernatural thriller drama movie based on Alice Sebold’s 2002 novel of the same name. The film stars Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci and Michael Imperioli. But instead of Mark Wahlberg, we could have seen The Gray Man star if he hadn’t misinterpreted the character. Unfortunately, Gosling thought the character should be overweight so, he gained 60 pounds. However, that was not the requirement of the character. He revealed, “I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong. Then I was fat and unemployed.”

Mark Wahlberg stars as Jack Salmon, Susie’s father, who becomes obsessed with his daughter’s murder case. If the Barbie actor would have gotten it right, we would have seen him as this obsessive father. Gosling also once revealed that with the weight, he had grown his beard as well. He made the physical changes without discussing them with the director, Peter Jackson. However, some viewers believe Mark Wahlberg was a brilliant choice as the replacement.
