‘The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window’ Ending Explained
Netflix has done one hell of a job sanctioning a title like The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window. Who killed the girl in the window in the house across the street?
A new family just moves in across Anna’s house, and Anna witnesses a murder in the same house. Lisa, the air-hostess girlfriend of Neil Colman, is stabbed to death. However, when the police show up there is no trace of blood or dead body. After discovering the dismembered body of Lisa, the police charge Rex with the murder.
But Rex had already revealed Lisa’s true identity to Anna. Turns out Lisa is a con woman who scammed wealthy divorced guys, and Rex was her partner-in-crime. Rex and Chastity (Lisa’s real name) worked at the same bar, and the latter convinced Rex to join her scamming scheme. However, the police release Rex and arrest Anna as they find the murder weapon: a palette knife.
Sloan, Anna’s best friend, bails her out, but Anna starts accepting her crime as she gets visions of her stabbing Lisa. But it all turns out to be a misunderstanding, as Anna only butchered Lisa’s painting. And the red blood dripping from the loft is just paint. Anna’s courageous trip to the loft also leads her to discover a guest living with her.
The real killer and her previous victims
Buell, the handyman who fixes Anna’s mailbox, lives in her loft. Douglas, Lisa’s ex-husband and a therapist, who encouraged her to go to the loft, told her Buell was his first criminally insane patient. Cameron Britton, who played Ed Kemper in Mindhunter, plays the role of Buell and almost convinces us he is the killer.

Emma admits to murdering Lisa because she refused to buy chocolates. We also find out that Emma had earlier killed her mother, Meredith, because she was pregnant, and her teacher for unknown reasons. Thus, Anna’s theory of Neil being the killer shatters. While the police eventually arrest the psychopath, the tale does not end as a new mystery begins.
