If you are looking for an engaging drama series that flirts with the borderline of thriller and comedy, you have come to the right place. One of Netflix’s new releases, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, premiered on 28th January 2022. The limited series starring Kristen Bell was much awaited by the fans of the Golden Globe-nominated actor. Significantly, this movie shares a similar premise with the Netflix original, The Woman in the Window starring Amy Adams. The series starts with the unsettling death of the protagonist’s daughter, Elizabeth. Let’s delve into the chilling story and see, how did the daughter die on The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window?
The story is carefully woven around a grief-stricken woman, Anna, as she loses her most precious things in life. After pushing herself through a family tragedy, she struggles with depression. Meanwhile, wine and pills are her only companions in this crippled world of hers. She lost her kid, Elizabeth, and following her death, her husband, Douglas, left her. However, she finds herself entangled in a vicious murder as she witnesses the crime from her window across the street.
Elizabeth appeared to be real at first, with Anna driving her to school and conversing with her at home. However, it is later revealed that it was all Anna’s hallucination because of her weary and depressed state. Significantly, the truth was revealed with the help of a therapist, as Anna wasn’t reacting in the healthiest way to her tragedy.
The woman in the house across the street from the girl in the window: how did the daughter die?
The events leading up to Elizabeth’s death unfolded when Anna convinces Douglas, a psychiatrist at FBI, to take her daughter to work. Douglas let the child accompany him to an interrogation room. As weird as that sounds, Douglas later leaves for some work, leaving Elizabeth alone with a cannibal called Massacre Mike.
After Douglas left, the door locked behind him and the officers couldn’t open it in time. As a result, the criminal murdered and devoured the child. The film portrayed quite a macabre ending for the child, and some viewers found the scene distasteful. However, they didn’t play the scene on screen. The viewers found it implausible for an organization like FBI to have such fewer countermeasures. They didn’t restrain the criminal carefully nor could they get the door open.
