The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular short story A Little Sacrifice. Furthermore, the film will be based on Season 1 episodes 5 and 6. Geralt, the “mutated monster hunter,” will be starting on an entirely new quest in the film. The movie will take place in The Witcher universe in 1244, shortly after Geralt and Yennefer first meet in season 1 episode 5 of the Netflix originals. Further, an official synopsis also provided a full overview of the plotline.
According to the initial summary of the anime film, the protagonist would be seen investigating a series of attacks in a seaside village. Simultaneously, a centuries-old war between humans and merpeople, as detailed in episodes 5 and 6 of season 1, draws him in. However, to unravel these mysteries, he must rely on allies “old and new” before the disagreements between the kingdoms of Atharia and Sheraak erupt into a full-fledged conflict.
Although Cavill is no longer a part of the fantasy series, his legacy will live on in the anime film, but there is one catch, Geralt of Rivia’s voice has been recast.
A different actor will voice Geralt of Rivia in the anime film
Much to the dismay of fans who hoped to see Henry Cavill in the film, the character will be voiced by Dough Cockle, a loved American actor who has already voiced the character in video games. Insisting that even after Cavill quit the previous series, this would not be Liam Hemsworth’s debut. However, Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra will reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer from the live-action series.
