‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Looks to Bring Back Old as Well as New Faces Into a Warring Continent After a Dividing Season Three
A Geralt gone, a Geralt gained. The Witcher ‘finally’ ended its Season 3 run after initially splitting the show into two parts. Henry Cavill, the fan-favorite and beloved White Wolf has exited the show, and in comes Liam Hemsworth to lift his sword. Meanwhile, the third season ended on a hit-and-miss basis. While a section of fans, although small, liked the show sticking to the lore, a huge diaspora of them was disappointed with the mellow ending and silent exit of Cavill.
Nonetheless, Netflix has to mint its treasuries and thus, Season 4 is officially in the works. Fans can have an overview as to what they could expect from the next season. With many new and returning characters and a fresh story, the fourth season is about to open its doors.

Season 4 of The Witcher will be the continuation of Season 3’s storylines based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series. We last saw that Ciri finds herself among a group of outlaws known as ‘The Rats’ while Yennefer takes charge as the leader of a formed Brotherhood of Sorcerers. Meanwhile, Jaskier stumbles upon a revelation about his new romantic partner being none other than Redania’s king. Additionally, Vilgefortz, the usurper laden with outclassing fighting skills, cunningly manipulates a princess in his bid for power over Nilfgaard.
Moreover, Season 4 will introduce the concept of a multiverse that allows for fresh characters and settings to grace our screens. However, all eyes will be eager to feast on Liam Hemsworth, both in anticipation and apprehension. Although the actor has stated that he will respect the majesty brought on by Henry Cavill, it remains to be tested. Hemsworth is charting on untested waters as a massive section of fans will be looking at Season 4 for the show’s redemption after a poorly rated third season.
However, a lot of things need to go right for the show to redeem itself. Most importantly, the next season first has to begin production, which is not looking to be the case yet!

Liam Hemsworth may have to keep practicing his fighting skills for a while as there is a halt in production on The Witcher due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes. It is to be noted that Netflix was under massive fan fire over its rushed and ‘inaccurate’ storyline in Season 3. Being a fantasy series, the show derives a majority of its plot from the original books of Sapkowski and video games. Fans can bear all but a deviation from their beloved storylines. Being wary of not stomping fan sentiments any further, Netflix might be looking into itself and taking proper time on its production and writing.
As such, given the current scenario, it is highly improbable that the show might release anytime this year or even the next. The most probable release window for The Witcher would be a 2025 release date. Meanwhile, the show has tanked in popularity and viewership due to several factors, including Cavill’s departure. Therefore, to ride back on the dragon and get to the top of the peak, it has a long walk ahead. Only time shall tell if the show can win back fans.
