The Witcher Season 3 dropped the remaining episodes on the 29th of July on Netflix. Fans of the show are in agony because of Henry Cavill‘s exit from the show. While there are many theories about the departure of the British actor, one of them is the show was deviating from the original books. The showrunner, along with the producers of the show, promised the third season was closer to the books. And yet, the lore-accurate episode from the third season received the lowest ratings and the book readers are calling out the show’s fans.
The third season of the show saw Ciri as the lead of the show as it is in the book, Time of Contempt. Episode 7 of the latest season of the Netflix original saw Cirilla of Cintra stuck in the desert. Meanwhile, Geralt is healing in the forest where Jaskier eventually arrives and helps him. The episode explores Ciri’s visions in the desert and the journey of her survival. While the episode, along with the entire season, is closer to the book, fans of the show rated episode 7 with 4.3 IMDb score only, per What’s on Netflix.

The average season rating is only 5.8 on IMDb. These ratings made the book lovers mad, and they called out the audience. The ratings came as a surprise because according to them, episode 7 was certainly closer to the books. In the book, Ciri actually is the central character, and the desert scene adaptation was a little slow but accurate as well.
Those who have already read the books defended the adaptation and expressed their thoughts openly as well.
The Witcher Netflix show lovers receive a backlash from the readers
Despite the ongoing debate about Cavill’s departure from the show, it is interesting to note that the fans of the Netflix series have given the lowest rating to episode 7 of the third installment. But the book lovers are proving their point. They expressed their surprise over the ratings, as that episode was certainly lore-accurate.
S3 was definitely better than S2 and the most book accurate so far. Freya‘s acting is getting better each season and her ability to carry almost the full E7 alone was impressive. This review bombing out of offended vanity sucks!

What? Among the last three episodes, the episode 7 was probably the best and the most faithful to the original story! The worst of the whole season is (in my opinion) the episode 6… I don't like at all how they adapted it, those events in the book are way better!!

So the most book accurate episode that happens to focus mainly on Ciri is getting bad reviews.
I wonder why. 🤔— Jay | 🌈🔞 | TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsG (@formerly_as_g) July 30, 2023
Fans also assumed the episode has been review-bombed by people.
Of course they're the "lowest rated", they've been review-bombed by ppl that want it to fail.

It's almost like a bunch of people are review bombing it because they're mad the focus shifted to the main character of the series 🤷♀️

While fans have complaints about the 7th episode, readers explained how it was extremely closest to the books and made the Lion Cub of Cintra the main character as well.
Episode 7 is literally based on 6th chapter of Time of Contempt. This proves that many ppl are lying about having read the books or they don't really give a flying fu*k about the books. Because season 2 barely followed the books (S02 was fanfiction), but ratings are high..lol

Episode 7 was an almost complete word for for translation of Chapter 6 from Time of Contempt and it got complained about. I'm starting to think it was never about not following the source material.

The book fans also said fans of the show were upset because their favorite actor was leaving the show. They accused fans of not reading the book yet giving their opinions.
