The hopes of fans were shattered after the lead of the show, Henry Cavill, announced his exit from the role of Geralt of Rivia. Naturally, confusion and doubts about the character’s developments riddled the minds of the show’s viewers. Sooner than later, the makers of the show announced the Australian counterpart to replace Cavill. After The Witcher Season 3, the exit of Geralt was unclear, leading to even more confusion. While several fan theories about the exit made the rounds and kept the fans busy, Tomek Bagiński, producer of the show, finally broke his silence.
Earlier in a conversation with the Polish newspaper Wyborcza, the producer revealed their intention behind the British actor’s exit from the franchise. He pulled the book-based show to the ranks of legendary superheroes. Bagiński said, “I am most pleased that the series was created and became so popular. The Witcher has already reached the level of Batman, Superman, and James Bond.” Alas, the parallels drawn between the greatest superhero blockbusters and the ongoing The Witcher did not land right with the fans.
The Witcher executive producer says recasting Geralt was inevitable because the character is now on the level of Batman, Superman, and James Bond.https://t.co/G4DpNJc20L pic.twitter.com/1BafMw1CED

It is worth noting that fans’ theory was not just based on the reason behind Cavill’s fanbase alone. The audience was also worried about the chemistry between Geralt, and the new central character, Yennefer. Moreover, comparing the exit to the likes of legendary films is futile. The Geralt of Rivia is not even a singular focus in the show.
The heat from the fandom came as intense trolls on Twitter, and this is what they had to say.
Netizens were deeply disappointed despite being big fans of Henry Cavill in the show
The most ardent of The Witcher fans were unhappy and found the claim ridiculous. They called the makers of the show out for not holding themselves accountable for Cavill’s exit and citing that their justification was a “bald faced lie.” Even Cody Ross Gray, director of Army of the Dead, intimated his reluctance to criticize fellow industry artists but couldn’t help but point out the “next level stupid” take.
I typically have a rule about criticizing others in the industry but this is next level stupid. Dislike Henry all you want, but Geralt is barely (if he even is) the star of his own three season show. Thinking those four are on the same level is a bonehead take. https://t.co/ugE87ywPNY

One of them trolled the producers for overstating a “c tier” hero. Among many other “dropped on your head as a child” and “more people know him from Fortnite rather than the show,” this one stole the show.
I’ve just been in a skiing accident and this makes sense to me https://t.co/MCYlq0RebB

Geralt is not even in the c tier comic book heroes level, in the real world people's minds. You are recasting because your showrunner and producer twisted the story and made it shit that made Henry cavil tell you to fvck off. https://t.co/bcRBfflYnO

One fan digressed from his disapproval of the claim and focused on the possibility of Cavill being the next James Bond.
No clue what buddy is talking about but the post made me think Henry should be the next James Bond. Idk why I never thought of it till this stupid ass quote https://t.co/ioymbfHRkV
