Being one of the giant streamers of the television cartel, Netflix has been adamant about the furtherance of live-action adaptations. Especially after the tremendous success of One Piece’s conversion into a live-action series. However, the older rocks of the adaptations, primarily The Witcher, have suffered low tides since Henry Cavill’s exit. Facing the adversaries of descending popularity, the writer of the books, Andrzej Sapkowski, shed some light on his vision’s adaptations.

During the conversation, Sapkowski characterized all forms of adaptations with peculiarity while divulging additional details about the live-action series.

When it comes to book adaptations, makers often fail to remain loyal to the source. However, with the third season gaining quite the momentum for the Witcherverse, it was observed and deemed to be the closest to the original. Even then, vouching for the same would be difficult given Andrzej Sapkowski’s deploration. Upon being asked about his visit to Netflix’s The Witcher set, Sapkowski joked with Cerealkillerz at Vienna Comic-Con, while confessing that “they never listen”.

In his conversation, the Polish writer further said that his visit to the set did include pitching some ideas. But he also continued saying that it was “normal” as “it’s the writer. It’s nobody.” Moreover, Sapkowski also briefly touched upon the subject of his new Witcher book. As per him, the legend will continue with its release in Poland by late 2024 and internationally by early 2025.

Having expressed his views on the live-action series, Andrzej Sapkowski also recessed his thoughts about the other visual adaptations.

Andrzej Sapkowski finds the adaptations of his books “strange”

With the release window of a new Witcher book outed, Andrzej Sapkowski spilled some beans about the visual adaptations apart from the live-action series. In the same interview, he was also asked for his two cents on the subject of characterization. Addressing the same, the writer maintained unbiasedness. He said that all kinds of visual tailoring seem, well, “strange” to him.

Sapkowski disclosed that while working on his books, he largely worked with words and “letters”. To see the same outgrow into visual pertinence is sometimes “astonishing” but also “interesting”. Given that the author works to his credibility not based on images or how the audience might picture it, the visual metamorphosis often takes him by surprise with its domination over how it has to be pictured.
