The Polish author’s presence at the Vienna Comic Con event brought forth a range of updates. Having announced his fresh discovery to be hitting the shelves by late 2024 or early 2025, the additional details were amiss. However, Sapkowski has confirmed to Beyond Pixels, as translated by Redanian Intelligence, that his upcoming novel would focus on Geralt of Rivia. He further revealed that the new book will be a “standalone” novel “outside the pentalogy.”.
Although the book currently lacks a title, it will follow a similar course to his book, Season of Storms. The announcement also marked a decade-long interval from his last solitary creation. The air of clarity suggested that it would be no continuation of the Witcher saga. Given its focal point is Geralt, it might reinstate an entry point to the undiscovered traits of the monster hunter.
The 75-year-old Polish author’s interviews at Vienna Comic Con further focused on a diverse array of news, including the adaptations, and his preference for Geralt.

Sapkowski’s recent bemoaning about the live-action adaptation of The Witcher did not go unnoticed. While expressing his accounts of preference in another part of the interview as reported by Redanian Intelligence, he revealed a comment on Geralt’s voice that was at play owing to the expansions. The novelist settled on Henry Cavill’s voice as Geralt over the rest. Apart from that, the author had admitted previously how his book comprises only “letters”.
Hence, watching the entire narrative unfolding in visuals is always something new. Furthermore, he said, “So my own idea of Geralt’s voice, that would be Cavill.”. Taking into account the initial enthusiasm displayed by Sapkowski and Cavill at the prospect of Netflix’s adaptation, followed by their disappointment with the creators’ betrayal of the source, it appears that the men’s outlooks nearly echo each other.
