‘The Witcher’ Actor Ditches Netflix Series, Along With ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘The Rings of Power’ for This One Show
The Witcher, House of the Dragon, and The Rings of Power are three highly loved television shows that have captured the attention and excitement of audiences worldwide. All three shows share a common thread of immersive world-building, complex characters, and intricate storytelling. With their unique blend of themes, they make up for a killer combo for mystical drama show lovers.
Any person, given a chance, would love to inhabit any of the three worlds. However, the veteran actor, Graham McTavish, who has had a chance of featuring in all three shows, The Witcher, House of the Dragon, and The Rings of Power, does not share the same sentiments. He recently appeared in a candid interview with Screenrant and dropped an interesting revelation. When asked which fantasy world he would prefer to live in as himself, he chose none of the three series. Instead, McTavish preferred the atmospheric setting of Scotland from the show Outlander.

The 62-year-old actor said that he would feel totally “at home” in the highlands of Scotland, where the show Outlander is set. He mentioned how he would not really “hang out” in Redania, from The Witcher, which is primarily set in a medieval-inspired world with kingdoms, forests, and villages. Moreover, Graham McTavish does not see himself in the land of Westeros of the House of the Dragon. And the realm of Middle-earth with fantastical creatures from The Rings of Power is not something he would picture himself in either.
Though the Scottish actor chose Outlander, he has had many options for choosing his favorite fantasy realm setting. From the fan-favorite Geralt of Rivia World to The Targaryen Land, McTavish is definitely a fantasy world veteran.

Graham McTavish has found himself continuously cast in these immersive worlds. The actor, renowned for his performance in The Hobbit, has made notable appearances in three major fantasy series in recent years. First, he portrayed the character of Dougal MacKenzie in Outlander, followed by his role as the cunning spymaster Sigismund Dijkstra in The Witcher and, more recently, as the knight Ser Harrold Westerling in the House of the Dragon.
McTavish said in an interview with Insider that it was strange that he kept finding himself in these fantastical realms. He spent much of his career riding around on horses, wearing capes, carrying candles, and armed with a sword. The actor believes that this genre offered him creative freedom.
