The entire Stranger Things fandom is looking ahead to an epic battle between the coolest nerds of Hawkins and Vecna. However, the ongoing delays that have shadowed the fate of the fifth season's release, have made it clear that fans are in for a long, torturing wait. Nonetheless, they have found the best way to pass the time and keep their spirits up. An internal war between the fandom has recently taken shape on social media that has had fans torn between deciding the best-featured track in the show, with only two options.

X page, Stranger News, was the mastermind behind this civil war between Stranger Things fans. The page recently put up a tweet asking, "Never Ending Story or Running Up That Hill?". Both songs became part of two of the most memorable sequences from the last two seasons. 'Never Ending Story' by Limahl was featured during the final scenes of Season 3, when Dustin introduced his girlfriend Suzie to the group. Meanwhile, Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' became an internet sensation.

The 1985 hit was featured in the fourth season when Max came under the spell of Vecna. Every season of the Netflix original comes with some iconic 80's music. Whether it is Eleven and Max bonding with the backdrop of 'Material Girl' by Madonna or the ballroom single that closed the second season, 'Every Breath You Take' by The Police, the soundtrack of the show is undeniably a perfect marriage between music and TV. This made it especially difficult for fans to choose their favorite.

They found themselves in a war as they struggled to choose between 'Never Ending Story' and 'Running Up That Hill'.

Fans split in two to crown the best soundtrack in Stranger Things

As soon as Stranger Things season four hit the small screens, its fourth episode, Dear Billy, became one of the highlights. The reason was Max's escape from Vecna's hub in the Upside Down and the sheer adrenaline rush that sequence, coupled with Kate 'Bush's Running Up That Hill', brought. It soon became a trend on social media as fans started wondering what could be their savior song, that could bring them back from the shackles of an evil entity like Vecna. This sentiment is still evidently present among fans.

Some fans also felt that 'Running Up That Hill' was overplayed throughout the year and went with 'Never Ending Story' instead.

Meanwhile, there were some who refused to choose one and shared their love for both tracks.

As the franchise inches towards its closing, it is expected that the musical picks for the final run will be even better than before. Especially considering that the makers are hell-bent on making the final season a literal cinematic masterpiece, this expectation is not very unrealistic. However, fans might have to wait until at least the summer of 2025 to get a lead on the release of Stranger Things season 5.
