“The person that uses” – A Young Will Smith Had Some Real Advice for the Millennials In NBC’s ‘The More You Know’
The younger generation today may not know about Will Smith’s early career as a young rapper. However, the internet is a beautiful place. Many old lost clips can resurface and become the tending news for the day. This is especially true for stars like Smith, who are always making headlines, whether for their latest project collaborations or for their scandal. A very old clip from his The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days has emerged that shows him showering the viewers with some words of wisdom.
In the clip from 1992, a very young Will Smith strutted onto the stage and then stopped to give some advice to his young viewers. He told them that it is easy to let their temper get to them when they are having a fun time with their partners, and someone tries to mess with their vibe. But he advised them to keep their cool. Nothing really works out when fists are involved. He instead urged them to use their heads during that situation to deflect it. “The person that uses the head can always defeat the person that is just trying to use their hands,” he shared.

The clip was from old NBC’s The More You Know show, which used to share a series of educational messages for the viewers. Smith was sporting his usual eccentric style back in those days. He was wearing purple sweatpants, paired with a bright orange shirt and white sneakers. He finished off the look with a baseball cap. It is interesting that the clip resurfaced at a time when the Hollywood legend is facing backlashes for his Oscars Slapgate. At the event, instead of thinking it through, he had let his temper fly and that landed him a huge scandal. But apparently, it is not the first time the actor is at a low point in his career.

In the 80s and the 90s, the Men in Black had a prolific rapping career. However, his scandal with IRS and tax evasion overshadowed all of his achievements. He owed the US government around $2.8 million in taxes. The IRS started seizing his properties and got 70% of his paychecks. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air arrived exactly at the time when he was on the verge of bankruptcy. And the star never looked back.
