However, according to Deadline, this is going to be an ensemble comedy. Well, that seems right up her alley. After all, she has had tremendous success in that genre. While working on the third sequel of Father of the Bride, she sprung the idea upon Scott Stuber. The head of original films at Netflix loved her idea and gave her a go-ahead.

Nancy’s last feature film was the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway starrer, The Intern.  This Netflix comedy will mark her comeback to filmmaking. The prolific filmmaker has worked on several noteworthy projects over her long career. Oscars recognized her talent after she penned the screenplay of Private Benjamin. She is the one behind the 1991 hit comedy flick, Father of the Bride. The film starred Steve Martin, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Diane Keaton, Kieran Culkin, Martin Snort, and George Newbern. The family comedy follows George Banks who is unwilling to give her daughter away in marriage. The movie was so popular that the production house commissioned a sequel.

In 2020, Netflix got Nancy Meyers to develop a Father of the Bride 3 to benefit the World Central Kitchen. The short film debuted on the streamer’s social media channels. Apart from the original cast reprising their roles, she also nabbed Robert De Niro, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Platt, and Florence Pugh for the project. Reese Witherspoon was also onboard to produce the Banks’ family reunion flick.

And that isn’t all. The talented woman donned the director’s hat for the first time for The Parent Trap. A movie starring Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson would immediately propel Lindsay Lohan to stardom. Her other credits include The Holiday, It’s Complicated, What Women Want, and Something’s Gotta Give.
