According to a fan page on X (formerly Twitter), Netflix recently announced that they would be adding Andrew Garfield and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge on September 1st. This came after the streaming giant revealed that it would be adding two HBO series to its library. Just like when the film debuted, fans of the film and the actor immediately flooded the comments section to express their joy.
The Oscar-winning movie which came out in 2016, also landed Andrew Garfield, his first ever Oscar nomination, back in 2016. The film depicts the true story of Desmond Doss, a religious man who joins the US Army but does not believe in war. However, he risked his life to save 75 others during the Battle of Okinawa. Throughout the film, Doss does not once pick up a weapon or go into battle to fight. Given that it is set during World War II, it paints the story of a man who stuck to his beliefs no matter the hardships.
The wartime epic gained global levels of recognition, with Andrew Garfield’s performance being deemed remarkable by anyone who saw it. So fans who have not seen the movie are in for a treat when they finally get to stream it.

While Gibson might have started as a gamble due to his overtly religious nature, the director and actor ended up finding the perfect middle ground between real life and miracles where their film, Hacksaw Ridge, could exist in harmony.
