The Internet Reacts as Meghan Markle Attends Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral at Westminster Abbey

After a disheartening week following the Queen’s sad demise on 8th September, the United Kingdom Royalty has finally begun the funeral ceremony. Britain’s longest-serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral has commenced at Westminster Abbey in London. From aristocratic family friends to notable world leaders, all have arrived to pay their last tribute to the Queen. Irrespective of it, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle taking part in the ritual is considered to be the biggest highlight of the event.

Prior to the uneventful week, there have been serious controversies regarding the Queen’s relationship with her younger grandchildren. Prince Harry and Meghan did not have the best relationship with the Queen when she was breathing her last. Owing to their withdrawal from the British monarchy earlier in the year, the internet has exploded seeing the pair attending the funeral.

Twitter explodes in support of Meghan Markle as the Duchess arrives to pay the last tributes

As the Queen’s death news spread like wildfire, grandson Harry could not stop himself from being with the devastated family. However, the Duchess had not accompanied him and rather stayed back with the kids. Hence, seeing Meghan attend the funeral ceremony despite the personal disturbances has broken the internet.

People have justifiably appreciated the sidelined working (ex)royal on Twitter for the mutual respect with her husband Harry and her sense of unity during a family crisis. Meghan was one of the very first members, along with the core family, who arrived for the ceremony. One of the users in support of the duchess tweeted,

Some also called out King Charles, the recently crowned Monarch, for not doing enough justice for the innocent pair.

The Duchess also wore the remnant token of love from the late grandmother-in-law to pay the last tributes. She had the diamond and pearl earrings on, which were given to her by the Queen herself during their first official joint engagement back in 2018. There is nothing more an abandoned family member could have possibly done keeping aside the sour treatments and unhappy days. Meghan Markle has truly stood up to people’s expectations by staying together with the family at this hour.

Prior to the funeral, she was also there with the royals during the 10-day mourning period. Other than the family, world leaders, including President of India Droupadi Murmu, US President Joe Biden, and French President Emmanuel Macron, also attended the Queen’s funeral.

First and foremost, Ms Markle is a human being with all the flaws and assets of any human being. She is biracial, she is talented, she is attractive, she is educated; and now she is a wife and mother. The fact that she is still able to even go outside is a miracle given the constant barrage of abuse she has been subjected to since her marriage. She is still learning; she is still growing and trying to carve out a place in this world where she and her family can thrive. I’m so tired of even having to see the never ending barrage of hate and condemnation regarding this one woman. It’s time to leave her alone.
