When asked about who she was, the former American actress, and the now Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle had an entire spectrum of attributes ready. As she confessed herself once back in the day, Markle started off with verbal dance all too well, an actress, a writer, and also an Editor-in-chief of her now defunct lifestyle blog, the Tig. But what exactly gave her the recognition she sought? As she affirmed, Markle had a pretty solid picture of how she was, but the hunt for a lifetime mark was still on the go. Then came Suits, which changed her life forever.

Before receiving all the fame and glory through the US legal show, Markle was infamous for her mixed ethnicity background. Or so at least everyone she was in association with regarded her to be as she claimed in an interview in 2015 with Elle Magazine. Her controversial dad, Thomas Markle, was an Amari Caucasian. On the other her mother, Doria Ragland, hailed from an African American with roots in Nigeria. Thus Markle was helplessly biracial, and that seemingly did no good for her career. It affected her so much that she ended up labeling herself as an “ethnicity chameleon for all the rejections she faced from her auditions.

But then there was Suits. “It’s the Goldilocks of my acting career,” confessed Markle, where finally she was just right. The dramedy about a NY law firm flanked two partners who built up their careers as paralegal officers. One of them was Markle’s dream role, the female lead of the show Rachel Zane. Unlike the typical, quintessential blonde-headed sapphire-colored eye heroine, this had a mixed-race figure as its lead. And Markle could finally rekindle her hope with acting.

Speaking of the cast and the crew, the former American mannequin was all praises for the team. The director was not looking for someone black, white, or mixed, she said. All they were looking for was a perfect fit for Rachel Zane, and no one could have better done the job than Meghan Markle.

How did Meghan Markle rise through Suits?

Slowly and steadily, Meghan Markle established herself as a household name as the US Network show quickly skyrocketed through the charts. The writer’s room as Markle opened up focussed on the emotion of the masses and took utmost care of the same. Prior to it, the Suits star had not heard much of a biracial actress becoming a star in the industry. However, having become the most-liked character in every other house, Markle “couldn’t be prouder of that”.

The journey does not end there as the one removed show is back on with high demand. The American streamer Netflix had taken down Suits years ago shortly after Markle gave up on the series for her alliance with the royal family. Nonetheless, currently, it is trending as the top 10 TV series in the US charts.
