Amid all the drama from Bridgerton, realistic tensions from reality dating shows like ‘The Ultimatum’ and ‘Love is Blind’, and the nerve-numbing thrill of Ozark, it is a little horror that all the fans crave from the streaming giant. And who better than Mike Flanagan to quench the thirst of horror? After giving Netflix two absolutely amazing horror shows in The Haunting and Midnight Mass, the American filmmaker is coming back with another horror series, ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’. And this time, it will be a bucket full of blood. At least, that is what Kate Siegel called it.

All of us are awaiting updates about the series based on Edgar Allan Poe’s famous short story of the same name. Gladly, we finally have a little something to talk about, and this little piece of information has made us even more excited about the series now. But what is it?

Kate Siegel sheds light on The Fall of the House of Usher

After initially hitting a bump with castings, where Frank Langella was replaced by Bruce Greenwood for misconduct with a female co-star, the series looks to be on track now. Greenwood will play the role of Roderick Usher, and they will reshoot as well scenes involving the character. The series also stars Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher and Carl Lumbly as investigator C. Auguste Dupin. Carla Gugino, Mark Hamill, and Kate Siegel will also be a part of the project.

In a recent conversation with Inverse, Kate Siegel revealed what exactly we should expect from Flanagan’s horror series. Here is what she exactly said while explaining the Netflix Original: “The Fall of the House of Usher is a bombastic, chaotic evil mess. It’s buckets of blood. It’s so much fun to do. The characters are all turned up to 11, and it’s like nothing anyone has ever seen. But something kind of lurching and evil is making its way through all of us.”

Mike Flanagan is no stranger to adapting acclaimed works of literature into cinema. He has previously done it with Haunting of Hill House based on Shirley Jackson‘s novel of the same name, and Haunting of Bly Manor based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. And this time around, he is working with literature written by a writer who is said to be the father of gothic literature. It is sure going to be a fun and scary ride.
