Considering each season takes close to a year to complete, it is safe to say that Stranger Things fans are no strangers to waiting. However, the fifth and final season has pushed the fandom to its limits. The last time fans joined the Hawkins gang in their adventures against monstrous foes was two years ago. The show, though not to be blamed alone for the delay, has hyped up the final run of the Netflix original so much that fans are expecting nothing less than a masterpiece for the upcoming installment.

In the absence of any leads on the release, with only occasional reports about the sets and locations, the Duffer Brothers accidentally offered a glimpse of a few characters directly from the sets.

The Duffer Brothers offer a masked Stranger Things update 

The Duffer Brothers recently celebrated their 40th birthday on the sets of Stranger Things season 5. Ross Duffer took to his Instagram stories to let fans in on the celebrations. However, he may have let on more than just the birthday bash. Thanks to their celebration, fans got a glimpse of some popular cast members from the sets, some of whom did not make it to Duffer’s feed earlier this year. Finn Wolfhard shared a story of the brothers blowing out birthday candles, while David Harbour, dressed in his Hopper costume, stood at a distance with a wide smile.

Some other cast members also got featured in the pictures, now viral. In one of the pictures that came out, Noah Schnapp and Maya Hawke were seen standing behind the brothers as they were about to cut their birthday cake. While Hawke stuck to her signature vintage edgy style that she has been rocking after her Scoops Ahoy uniform, Will Byers did not change much either, nor did his hairstyle. It is clear by now that the bowl cut is here to stay. But it is not only Byers’ hairstyle that the show’s makers overlooked.

The creators overlooked a crucial detail of Will Byers in the fourth season, which further fueled viewers’ desire to see the poor boy take the spotlight in the final season.

Will Byers needs to have his moment

At this point, everyone would agree that Will Byers has been one of the most neglected characters in the show. Throughout the four seasons, his storyline remained focused on Hawkins Lab, the Upside Down, the Demogorgon, and otherworldly creatures, leaving the audience with little insight into who Will Byers truly is. One prime example of this neglect was called out by the fandom when they figured that the show forgot Byers’ birthday. In the second season, it was made clear that his birthday was on March 22nd.

In Season 4, however, when the same date was shown on the show, no one, not even Will Byers’ mother, mentions his birthday. In an interview with Variety in 2022, the Duffer brothers apologized to the fandom saying, “It was obviously a mistake, and we’re sorry“. They also apologized to Will Byers highlighting “it’s unfair” to the character. Nevertheless, reportedly, Byers will finally have his moment in the last chapter of Stranger Things, and fans can not wait to see the character getting his due.
