The life story of Queen Elizabeth II intrigues and fascinates the world. ‘The Crown’ is a popular Netflix series that portrays the life struggles and challenges faced by Queen Elizabeth and her family. For someone who is into historical facts and stories, this Netflix series is a gold mine. It was previously stated that ‘The Crown’ season 5 would be the final season. However, the show’s creator and writer, Peter Morgan, has overturned the decision. There will be a season 6 for the show, let’s check out the production dates and cast changes.

This historical drama has amassed quite an enormous fan base. Meanwhile, the latest news from the creators of the show is a reason for joy among the avid followers. The creator and writer of the show, Peter Morgan, said, “it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons”.

Season 5 premiers on Netflix in November 2022. Meanwhile, for the sixth season of the series, only a tentative date of August 2023 has been provided with no clarification as to where the production will take place. Peter Morgan further stated that there will be no extension of the current timeline of ‘The Crown’ but would be an in-depth analysis of the current story. “To be clear, series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day—it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail,” he said, asper Deadline.

Cast change for the upcoming seasons

We will see Imelda Staunton taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from the previous queens Olivia Colman and Claire Foy. “On behalf of the cast and crew, we look forward to bringing you the next season of The Crown in November 2022,” said the new Queen of the show.


Furthermore, we have Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West as Princess Diana and Prince Charles in the new season. Along with them, Actress Claudia Harrison will portray Princess Anne.

The others include Leslie Manville as queen’s younger sister, Princess Margaret, “The baton is being passed on from two formidable actresses and I really don’t want to let the side down.  Jonathan Pryce in the role of The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip; Senan West, the real-life son of Dominic West as Prince William and lastly Jonny Lee Miller as the Prime Minister, John Major, will also join the cast.
